The 9th edition of the Volcano Marathon took place on November 16th, 2023, introducing a fresh course at Villarica Volcano in Southern Chile. Beginning at 7 am from Green Park Hotel Pucon, runners encountered light rain and wind, dropping temperatures to 5°C (41°F). As they ascended Villarica Volcano after 4,600 ft / 1,400 m elevation gain, the marathoners confronted soft snow and gusty winds that brought the tempreture below freezing. Despite the formidable conditions, all participants successfully completed the marathon. Kalib Wilkinson (USA) clinched the men's title with a finish time of 4:09:03, while Becca Pizzi (USA) secured the women's title with 04:18:01, establishing new course records for this new location.
